By Tish Rabe
Here is a fun way to learn about weather, from simple facts to more difficult terminology, as long as you don’t mind illustrations with the Cat and Thing 1 and Thing 2 borrowed from Dr. Seuss’s characters. The actual nature illustrations are quite realistic.
This is one of two dozen Cat in the Hat books that introduce beginning readers to important concepts about the natural world—science-themed books. I am not a huge fan of gimmicky science books, but the author, Tish Rabe, gives clear explanations of “big” words in this book, and the rhyming aspect makes it easy for kids to memorize facts.
Available from the public library along with other The Cat in the Hat’s Learning Library Titles. (Not to be confused with books by the same name in the Step Into Reading Series, which are very similar, but far more simplistic.)
