by Patricia St. John
I loved this book. It has adventure as well as a realistic portrayal of kids and their struggle with sin and character. The story is appealing to both boys and girls since the main character is a tom-boy of a girl and the two secondary characters are boys. The beauty of this book lies in the author’s skillful treatment of a conversion story as its characters learn of the Good Shepherd and meet with a real shepherd and his sheep. Although Patricia St. John lived a century ago, she remains adept at leading children spiritually. I believe the copy we read was a reprint with modernized language that was true to the original.
