One Hen

One Hen by Katie Smith Milway

This book is a great choice if you are on the lookout for a living, geography book. By living, I mean that this is a book written by one person who has a passion for a subject and writes their story in a narrative or conversational style.

The story of this book follows the life of a young boy named Kojo. I will admit that I didn’t think my kids would stay interested with all the information packed into this story, but I was wrong. Milway writes in way that keeps the kids focused on what will happen to Kojo and his hen while slowly teaching them about the country of Ghana and what their culture is like.
